Wondering what that means?? This hashtag is used when a match is played between Manchester United and Crystal Palace FC. It is also true that a new shape ManU lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace. So MU(a)N (United fans) might be CRYing (sic) 😐

Wilfried Zaha scored a double when Crystal Palace defeated Manchester United 3-1 on Saturday in the 2020-21 Premier League season here at Old Trafford Stadium. Along with Zaha, Andros Townsend scored a goal for Crystal Palace while Donny van de Beek scored Manchester United’s only goal.

In the match, Manchester United had 76 percent ball possession compared to 24 for Crystal Palace, but the latter managed to win the match by creating more attacking opportunities. I can firmly say that all 3 goals were conceded only because of one man, CB – Victor Lindelöf.

1-0 : Lindelöf’s mistake

The first goal of the #MunCry match was recorded by Andros Townsend in the seventh minute of the match. Tyrick Mitchell played an excellent ball down the left of Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp, who in return managed to get a low cross to the goalpost, and in the end, Townsend seized the opportunity to register the first goal. No more goals were scored in the first half and as a result, Crystal Palace came in with a 1-0 lead.

Editor’s Pick :

2-0 : Penalty drama

Crystal Palace was awarded a penalty in the 69th minute of the game when Lindelof’s arm found itself in an unnatural position. Ayew made a bad penalty and David de Gea knew how to save the ball. However, the sanction had to be repeated since De Gea was sanctioned for invasion. Zaha came close to taking the penalty this time around and was not wrong, giving Crystal Palace a 2-0 lead in the 74th minute.

3-1 : Debutant scores!

United had a glimmer of hope in the 80th minute when Donny van de Beek scored a goal for the team, making it 2-1. The final goal for Crystal Palace came in the 85th minute when Zaha managed to fight United’s Lindelof to register the ball off the goal post. In the end, Palace went away with a 3-1 victory over the hosts’ Manchester United. #MunCry.

What next for both the teams?

Time flies and all we have are memories. Today 12 years ago, Yuvraj Singh took Stuart Broad to the cleaners to perform a historic feat in Durban during India’s league match in the opening World T20 against England.

September 19, 2019, marks the 12th anniversary of Yuvraj’s historic achievement against an unhappy Brad following a verbal argument with Andrew Flintoff. Although we never know if it has stopped the UV, what we do know is that it is a night to remember?

Yuvraj was dismissed after a verbal altercation with England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff at the end of the 18th over. Then, left-hander, Stuart Broad took 36 off six balls in the 19th over to take the cleaners.

The play started when Men in Blue were in the first innings at the end of the 18th overs on 171/3. Yuvraj and later Captain MS. Since Dhoni was in crease, both of them were trying to complete maximum by collecting more runs in death overs.

Yuvraj hit Andrew Flintoff for two fours in the 18th over, which angered the England bowler. The pair engaged in a major argument, which ended after the intervention of the umpires on the field.

However, the verbal argument was that it provoked Yuvraj and it was Stuart Broad who bore the brunt of his attack in the next over.

In the 19th over of the innings, the Punjab left-arm batsman ensured that England paid the price for their high aggression and hit six consecutive maximums from Broad.

The first was followed by a deep mid-wicket, the next over by a backward square foot, the third by a wide long over, then by a swat at a deep point for a full toss, the fifth by a hike over a square foot, and finally by a wide hit wide.

Yuvraj hits a 50 of 12 balls!!

In the process, the Punjab-boy hit a fifty off 12 balls, the first time a T20I had taken place. This is the fastest fifty to date in the short form of the game.

Yuvraj Singh eventually finished with 58 off 16 balls (three fours and seven sixes) as India scored 218 for 4. In return, England was restricted to 200/6, giving India an 18-run victory.
India finally became world T20 champions in a thrilling final on September 24 in Johannesburg.

Part 1

This post is a continuation of the already published Europe’s Top 5 Football League Champions in 2020 You should know about! [Part 1]. There I had covered Spain, Italy, and Germany. Make sure you read that first ⚽. Let’s get into the topic :

Basically, England is one of the countries where Football and Cricket are equally celebrated. There are many local leagues being played in the country every year be it football or cricket. Let’s see who won their league and cup below.

Premier League also referred to as EPL is contested by the top 20 teams of England every year. This year marked the end of a very long wait of champions Liverpool FC. Last year they came very close to winning the EPL but somehow lost to the defending champions of the 2017-18 season Manchester City. They came back to winning ways this season with claiming the most precious Champions League (2018-19 season). Since the restart, they have performed well and I hope they’ll be defending the UCL this time too.

The Emirates FA Cup tournament is based on knockout matches where the teams losing will be terminated from the tournament at each and every stage as it progresses. This season’s finals was played between Chelsea and Arsenal who beat ManU and ManC resp. on their semifinal tie. Arsenal won this season’s FA finals with their topscorer Aubameyang scoring a brace. This marked their 14th FA cup – the most by any team – and a fresh to their new coach Mikel Arteta.

French football usually doesn’t get any limelight but is one of the top 5 football leagues in the world with the likes of Neymar Jr, Kylian Mbappe, and co.

This season’s Ligue 1 winners Paris Saint-Germain FC aka PSG won the league for the 3rd consecutive time.

Coupe de France aka French cup also concluded a week ago and PSG were reigned champions after beating St-Etienne 1-0 in the finals but lose Mbappe to injury.

Teams with a chance for a Treble

A treble in football is achieved when a club team wins three trophies in a single season. A continental treble involves winning the club’s national league competition, main national cup competition, and main continental trophy. As the national cup and league competitions have come to an end this season, only PSG and Bayern Munich have a chance for this. If PSG wins the UCL (UEFA Champions League), this will be their first treble and if Bayern wins the UCL, this will be their second treble overall since the 2012-13 season.

I’ll try to publish a separate post explaining more about Treble and the teams that have done this before after the conclusion of the 2019-2020 UCL. Stay tuned and support us 😺.

The next ODI series between England and Ireland, which will begin on July 30, will officially launch the Cricket World Cup Super League, the International Cricket Council confirmed on Monday, July 27.

The World Cup Super League

The World Cup Super League, first announced in June 2018, was presented in conjunction with the Test Championship to provide context for ODI cricket by acting as a qualifying avenue to determine the participants for the 2023 Men’s World Cup in India.

Thirteen teams, including the Netherlands that won the ICC World Cricket League 2015-17, will participate in the Super League with the top seven teams, in addition to the hosts from India, ensuring direct qualification for the 2023 World Cup.

Over the course of the league, each team will play four series at home and four away, with teams scoring 10 points for a win and 5 for no result or draw. Each series must only be a three-match series, although teams can play additional matches, the results of those will not be considered for league points.

The bottom five sides of the league will battle for the bottom two places of the 10-team event at the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, where the partner countries that have also progressed since League 2 of the Cricket World Cup will join. like the two leagues of the Cricket World Cup Challenge through the Qualifier Playoff.

The World Cup Super League was originally scheduled to start in May 2020 and will continue until March 2022 before the Coronavirus pandemic delays the start date until July 30.

The Cricket World Cup League 2 series, to be held in Namibia in September and which also involves Papua New Guinea and the United States, has been postponed and will be rescheduled.

How does it work?

Each Super League team plays three ODIs against eight other teams. Four of them are home series and four are away series. This means that each team plays a total of 24 ODIs that will award them points in # RoadTo2023.

An added benefit is that teams that are outside the top 10 in the current ranking have more opportunities to play more ODI against the best teams, and also help them improve their levels.

But doesn’t everyone play everyone?

So is. The Super League operates within the parameters of the Future Tours (FTP) Program existing among the Members. In this sense, this league is also like the World Test Championship.

How does the point system work?

Each team scores 10 points for a win, five for a draw / no result / game abandoned, and zero for a loss.

What about teams that end at the bottom?

The bottom five teams will still have a chance to qualify for the 2023 World Cup. The traditional ODI World Cup qualifiers will take place for them, along with partner nations, which will determine the remaining two places for the ODI 2023 World Cup.

Are there other adjustments to the playing conditions?

The ICC has announced that the third referee will summon all who are not front balls. Teams will also have points deducted for slow overshoots.

Do all ODIs now enter the Super League?

No. The teams will also play bilateral ODI with each other outside of the Super League. In some cases, they can play, for example, four or five matches in a series, but only three predetermined matches will count towards Super League points.

And all ODI will continue to count towards the ODI MRF Tires ICC team classification.

Anything else you should know?

The Super League was scheduled to start on May 1, 2020, and end on March 31, 2022. However, some series to be postponed due to the global pandemic, including the Netherlands v Pakistan matches in July. Some accessories are under discussion.

Stuart Broad, the English pacer joined one of the cricket’s most elite clubs when he took his 500th test wicket on Tuesday. The 34-year-old pacemaker became the seventh bowler to reach the milestone when he got West Indies opener, Kraigg Brathwaite, to get out lbw for 19 at Old Trafford on the fifth and final day of the third Test, with England moving towards a victory that would see them take the series 2-1. Broad had been on a wait at 499 wickets when, after taking eight wickets in this match, the rain washed all day on Monday.

He was then frustrated by a sound bump early Tuesday before a new outbreak of rain forced players to leave the field for about 16 minutes.

Shortly after the game resumed, Broad fired Brathwaite with a long-running delivery that hit the rear pad, and the opener didn’t even bother to review referee Michael Gough’s decision because he was clearly out.

Brathwaite’s departure left the West Indies, chasing a big goal of 399 for the win, 45-3.

Coincidentally, Brathwaite was also the fired hitter when James Anderson, England’s former Broadball colleague Broad, took his 500th test position at Lord’s in September 2017.

Broad’s 10 wicket haul

Broad, now taken a 10 wicket haul in the third match of this series, after being controversially omitted from the England side that lost the first Test at Southampton by four wickets.

That followed at 6-31 haul from him in the scant first few entries of 197 tourists.

That was in response to 369 England, which had 62 from Broad playing at No. 10.

Although viewers are not allowed to attend a biosecurity series marking the return of the international coronavirus cricket, his father Chris, a former England opening batsman, was at Old Trafford to witness the achievement of his son as referee of the game.

The trio of former spinners are the only bowlers with over 600 trial wickets: Muttiah Muralitharan (800) from Sri Lanka, Shane Warne (708) from Australia, and Anil Kumble from India (619).

The only pacers ahead of him are Anderson (589 wickets) and Australian Glenn McGrath (563) and Courtney Walsh of the West Indies (519), both retired.

London(UK): A 14-member One-Day International (ODI) squad for England for the next series against Ireland has been announced. Eoin Morgan named as skipper and Moeen Ali as his deputy.

The two sides are slated to play a three-game Royal London series, starting July 30 at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southampton behind closed doors in a bio-secure environment.

Wicketkeeper hitter Tom Banton, who made his debut for England in the 50-plus-year format during a clash against South Africa in February 2020, has also been named to the series in Ireland.

While Kent hitter Joe Denly has been removed from the ODI team after being eliminated for the second and third tests against the West Indies, Test captain Joe Root, ATV Ben Stokes, and batsman Jos Buttler have been removed.

Seamer Saqib Mahmood, who played just one ODI for his national team against South Africa, also received a go-ahead on the national team for upcoming ODIs.

Reflecting on the team, Coach James Taylor said the upcoming ODI against Ireland will provide a great opportunity to continue the exciting evolution of the ODI side with the T20 2021 World Cup also in mind.

“We are developing excellent depth resistance in white-ball cricket. Despite the fact that several test players are not available, there is a great competition for places, as we have seen during the matches within the team and the preparation game of the Lions of England, “said Taylor, according to the Cricket Board of England and Wales (ECB).

“There are a number of players who will feel unfortunate not to have made it to the final team and that says a lot about how many players we currently have pushing hard for the national team at the highest level,” I added.

Meanwhile, Richard Gleeson, Lewis Gregory, Liam Livingstone has been named as their three reserves for the ODI series against Ireland.

The ODI series between England and Ireland will also usher in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, which will determine qualification for the 2023 World Cup with the top seven teams automatically booking their places for the main event in India.
