CSK vs SRH: With 13 matches over till now, this season of IPL made sure all the teams had faced a loss within a span of 12 matches in this season. It’s getting to so tough to predict who will sit on the top 4.
CSK vs SRH
With so much happening around this season, the Super Kings have been kept quiet in their last 2 matches. Not only by losing it, but they also looked they’ve lost it in the halfway of the match. They are still looking for a perfect playing11 in this season. With MS Dhoni hinting about the sixth bowling option for his team in the post-match presentation against DC, fans are eager to see the changes in the team.
With Rayudu and Bravo have recovered from their injury, they have a good chance to bring back them into the 11. Especially Rayudu at the top playing Watson. Bringing Bravo into the 11 can create chaos in the overseas quota. But Bravo with his tons of experience can always be helpful for CSK with the ball as well as with the bat.
On the other hand, SRH has rejuvenated themselves by registering their first win of this against DC after starting with two losses. They have brought in Kane again and made the batting look better than before and Natarajan bowling those yorkers towards the end to Pant and Stoinis, seems like SRH has got some positive vibes before this match.
Stats and Strategies to look for:
Teams won the toss had chosen 36 out of 55 times to bowl first in Dubai since 2018, but batting first teams has a slight edge winning 29 out of 55. Even in this year of IPL, bowling 1st team has only won twice but the captains are opting to bowl first.
Looking forward to this game, the Watson-Bhuvneshwar contest will be a key one. Bhuvneshwar has dismissed Watson 3 times with just a strike rate of 94. But Shane Watson has an incredible record against SRH scoring two fifties and a century against them.
MS Dhoni needs two more sixes to cross 300 sixes in T20s.
Natarajan has bowled 16 yorkers in his three games this year and made his team win against DC with 6 of them came in that match.
Manish Pandey need 69 more runs to get pass 3000 IPL runs to become 12th Indian batsmen to do do.

Likely playing 11 of both the teams:
Chennai Super Kings:
Shane Watson, R Gaikwad/N Jagadheesan, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(c)(wk), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Josh Hazlewood.
Sunrisers Hyderabad:
David Warner(c), Johnny Bairstow(wk), Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, Priyam Garg, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan.
KXIP defeated RCB by 97 runs, thanks to their captain who lead them from the front and scored a match-winning knock of 132 which is the highest score by an Indian batsman and by an Indian captain.
CSK vs DC:
It’s the old vs young. Let’s see who has the upper hand. Although MS wasn’t playing more than 12 months the focus was more on him than any other player. In the last match, he batted lower-down the order making others play which backfired at him. This debate went on a rage for the past few days and we will be findings answers in today’s clash.
Rishab Pant has been a key man for DC since 2018, averaging 40 and a strike rate of above 150. But Lungi has the upper hand over pant bowling six balls dismissing him 2 times conceding only 7 runs.
Although Shane Watson hasn’t had a good start, he can be explosive in the middle overs. He has the strike rate of 185 and hits boundaries every 3.8 balls from overs 7-15 which will be key for CSK. DC’s bowlers Axar and Mishra had dismissed him 5 and 6 times respectively and those two are their trump cards against Watson.
Since 2019, Sam Curran has the strike rate of 194 which is the second best to Andre Russel, considering minimum of 100 runs.
MS Dhoni needs two more sixes to reach 300 sixes in T20s.
Rabada has taken at least 2 wickets in his last 8 matches in IPL, equalling Lasith Malinga who did in 2012. Can he do it again to cross Malinga’s record?
Likely 11s of CSK and DC:
Chennai Super Kings:
Shane Watson, Murali Vijay, Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Lungi Ngidi.
Delhi Capitals:
Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Shimron Hetmyer, Rishab Pant, Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Mohit Sharma, A Nortje.
We had a good nail-biter yesterday. Some injuries were also part of that, hope the players especially Marsh comeback soon for SRH. With only 3 days over, we are on the 4th day of IPL2020 and RR is going to take on CSK in match 4 of Dream11 IPL 2020.
Can Smith produce a quality 11 for RR amidst Buttler and Stokes not playing in today’s match?
Coming into today’s match RR is forced to fit their foreign players as Stokes returns to his family in New Zealand and Buttler still in quarintine, Smith has to provide a 11 with the limited options available.
But fortunately, they some good options too, in the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Robin Uthappa, Tom Curran, and David Miller. Particularly Jaiswal and Uthappa can open the innings and if they fire, RR can surely provide some good results.
Tom Curran and David Miller will be a good option to replace Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. Tom Curran has performed well in the recently played Eng vs Aus series and had a good BBL season last year playing for his team Sydney Sixers to clinch the title.
Considering CSK, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been tested negative and will be for selection in today’s match. With today’s match is set to play in a high scoring venue Sharjah, MS may think of a 6th bowling option Shardul Thakur replacing Murali Vijay who had a bad day in their first match against MI.
Stats and Strategies to look up for:
In the last season of IPL other than Buttler there were no other batsmen with a strike rate above 120. This can be addressed if Miller has a good season because when previously played in UAE at 2014, he had the 3rd highest Strike Rate.
Ravindra Jadeja has dismissed Smith 6 times so far and this can make MS to hold up Jadeja’s 4 overs to attack against Smith.
Jofra Archer has dismissed Ambati Rayudu twice and Shane Watson once which is a worrying stat for CSK as already there are too many top-order woes since last season.
Since 2018 CSK had won 3 out of 4 times against the Royals.
The chasing teams has won 26 out of 46 T20s played in Sharjah and the pacers has dominated here taking 64% of wickets since 2018.
The average score here is 161 and the average winning score is 175 since 2018. It clearly depicts the chasing team has the upper hand here.
Likely playing 11s of RR and CSK:
Rajasthan Royals:
Robin Uthappa, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson(wk), Steve Smith(c), David Miller, Riyan Parag, Tom Curran, Shreyas Gopal, Jofra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat, Varun Aaron/ Ankit Rajpoot

Chennai Super Kings:
Shane Watson, M Vijay, Ambati Rayudu, Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Lungi Ngidi.
Delays and discussions here and there and finally Dream11 IPL is set to begin on September 19, makes the Indian cricket fans keep buzzing. With the start of a play under pandemic situations, fans are kept alive by their franchise and are dominating the internet. This season of IPL can help us to forget how broken we are.
El Clasico – MI vs CSK: What to expect
No two teams have won so many IPL titles, no two teams have played more matches each other and no two teams have stayed till the end more number of times to entertain their fans. Not more than this needed to get an opening match for a cash-rich tournament and this clash is well suited to be called an El Clasico.
This clash is set to play at Abu Dhabi which is the base for Mumbai Indians. CSK to travel and no time to assess the conditions and are going to taste the conditions for the first time tomorrow which is a big challenge for the 3-time champions.
The change in the quarantine period for England and Australian players in the likes of Sam Curran, Josh Hazlewood helps them to get into the team right from 1st match of the season.
Though MI has an edge over CSK in the head to head winning 8 out of the last 10 clashes, they have also never won their opening games since their last win in 2012.
In the absence of key-players like Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, and Lasith Malinga, this clash will absolutely miss these legends in play. Especially CSK missing out both their MR.IPL and their only off-spinner, expecting how they turn the tables in today’s clash.
CSK’s pacer Deepak Chahar has dismissed MI’s skipper Rohit Sharma 2 times out of the 6 innings in the powerplay and has conceded only 29 runs in 24 balls. Waiting to see how Chahar going to play this time.
MI’s strong death bowling and CSK’s over dependant on MS Dhoni last year towards the end of the innings is one of the clashes we are waiting for. However, MI managed to pull things off where Bumrah dismissed CSK’s captain 3 times and conceded just 39 runs in 33 balls.
CSK’s success last year was taking early wickets in the powerplay. This helped MS to maneuver their spinners in the middle overs. They have taken 56 wickets since 2018 especially 25 wickets by Chahar. Will they continue this trend against the team which has a deep hard-hitting line-up.
The total scores by a team in a T20 match never got big in UAE. The average first innings score in Abu Dhabi in the last 2 years is just 140. This is due to the slowness and dryness in the pitch.
With the pitches getting slower in UAE, spinners will be the key to success. Mumbai Indians spinners put together has a total tally of 61 wickets while CSK’s Jadeja alone has 108 IPL wickets. This is where CSK’s strength lies.
Kieron Pollard had a tremendous CPL this year, scoring 207 runs at a strike-rate of 204. CSK has to tackle him with their key bowler Imran Tahir who dismissed Pollard 4 times in 16 matches and has a dot ball percentage of 50.

In comes positive news for the Chennai Super Kings camp, all players and support staff tested negative for COVID-19 in the first of two follow-up tests, confirmed Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of Super Kings, according to Cricbuzz.
Relief for the Super Kings fans!
Kasi Viswanathan told Cricbuzz, “The first test came back negative, there is one more test,”. The second test will be held on September 3 and if the results come out negative then they will start training from September 4, he added.
The Super Kings are the only team that has yet to start training, and their quarantine period is extended after multiple members, including two players, tested positive. They arrived in Dubai on August 21 and were supposed to start training from August 28. However, the positive COVID-19 cases in the camp forced them to delay their preparations for the 2020 IPL, which will start on September 19.
Although, the 13 members, followed by Ruturaj Gaikwad in the next day, who previously tested positive are in a different hotel undergoing a two-week quarantine. Those members will undergo the two additional tests after their quarantine period ends.
In accordance with Standard Operating Procedures to be followed during the IPL, everyone associated with the tournament will be tested upon arrival in the UAE, and also there will be testing on days 1, 3, and 6 of their quarantine period at the team hotel. If all these tests give you negative results, these players would be allowed to train only after testing negative on all three could the players to train.
The Super Kings will also be encouraged by the arrival of Faf du Plessis and Lungi Ngidi, who joined the team on Tuesday (September 1). They will have to quarantine themselves for a period of six days and undergo tests and, once they pass them, they will be able to join the team’s training from 8 September.
IPL 2020: 13 members of Chennai Super Kings contingent including an Indian pacer is tested positive for Covid-19 in Dubai. ESPNcricinfo understands that there is only one player among those who tested positive, and the rest of them include members of the support staff and some network pitchers.
Chennai Super kings to postpone their training
Now this made the Super Kings postpone its training starting date to September 1. According to IPL’s Permanent Operating Procedures (SOPs), everyone who tested positive will now need to undergo at least two weeks of quarantining and clearing two more tests before they can rejoin the group.
Now we can understand that the positive test results are from the final round of testing in the United Arab Emirates, which is part of the IPL Covid-19 protocols, which comprise three tests that are mandatory for everyone who is part of the tournament. Under the protocol, all people would be tested at the airport upon landing in the United Arab Emirates, followed by three tests on days 1, 3, and 6. The protocol also requires everyone to undergo a six-day quarantine after landing where they aren’t supposed to even mingle with team members or colleagues. Only after team members pass all mandatory tests can teams begin their training.
According to the original schedule, Chennai Super Kings would have started their training on Friday. However, their preparations are now in disarray. So far, both the franchise and the IPL has not made any public comment.
Chennai Super Kings
The IPL will begin on September 19, but the schedule has yet to be finalized. The development is sure to put the IPL on alert simply because the Super Kings, who finished runners-up in 2019, is expected to face the defending champions of the Mumbai Indians in the first tournament.
Chennai Super Kings underwent a 6-days conditioning camp in Chennai including an Indian contingent and after that, they landed in Dubai. That group included most of the senior Indian players on the team, including captain MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Deepak Chahar, and Piyush Chawla.
According to the tournament’s SOPs, those who test positive must be “immediately isolated from the rest of the team.” The SOPs also says that “contact tracing” must “begin immediately.”
If the person is “asymptomatic or has mild symptoms,” then they should be isolated outside the biosecure bubble for two weeks from the “first day of symptoms or a positive PCR test report, whichever is later.”
The individual is also unable to train during the 14 day isolation period and full rest is recommended. If symptoms worsen, you will be transferred to a tournament accredited hospital.
After involving the isolations, the affected player must undergo two negative PCR test with 24 hours apart and and after that cardiac screening will be held for the player. If he passes all, he will be allowed to resume team activities.
Welcome to the Part-4 of the IPL 2020 series. In the previous part, we analyzed the strengths and weaknesses and playing 11 of both Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. Hope you enjoyed the part-3 of this series. Let’s get into the part-4.
Now, we are going to see about the two teams(CSK and KXIP) who are completely in terms of their past records. CSK are way ahead of KXIP when compared with their achievements and their fanbase.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
Chennai Super Kings is one of the greatest teams in the IPL history also one of the greatest cricket clubs in the world, is known for their achievements they’ve achieved so far. They have won 3 IPL titles, 2 CLT20 titles, and 6 Fairplay awards so far. Many well-known players played for this club, but this team is known for their captain MSD, who has to lead the team right from the 1st season of IPL till now.
CSK has never failed to qualify for the playoffs. CSK has second-highest wins in IPL history second best to their arch-rivals MI but they have the highest win percentage than MI. A lot of emotions come out from their fans as their two leading players have retired recently.
Top Order
My opening pair for CSK will be Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu. This pair has been a backbone for CSK’s victorious run in IPL 2018. Shane Watson scored 555 runs and took 6 wickets along with Ambati Rayudu who scored 602 runs for CSK in IPL 2018.
In the previous season, they weren’t among the runs, so it made the captain make Faf du Plessis open the innings for CSK. Faf can also open the innings but as for now, I think it’s better to play with an Indian opener as they can use a pacer in the overseas slot to strengthen their bowling attack.
The no.3 for CSK will always be their one and only Suresh Raina. Raina who has retired recently is fondly called “Chinna Thala” by their fans is known for his consistency in his entire IPL career. Though he wasn’t amongst the runs in recent times, he will be the no.3 for CSK at any cause.
Middle and lower-middle order:
My No.4 for CSK will be Kedar Jadhav. This Indian batsman is a good player of spin, and can come handy with the ball with round arm action. Playing for CSK he hasn’t played good for his team, except his one notable knock against MI sustaining with a hamstring injury.
My No.5 for CSK will be their captain, MS Dhoni. Playing at no.5, one should know how to finish games, and as well as if the top order fails, the No. 5 batsmen should play responsibly. Dhoni is a master in both of the roles. So he will be a perfect No.5 for CSK. This wicket-keeper batsman has played a ton number of innings for CSK and helped cross the finish line.
My No.6 and No.7 will be Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo. These two all-rounders are handy both with bat and ball. These two can support Dhoni to finish the innings as well. Jadeja will be helpful for CSK in the dry UAE conditions as well as Bravo’s slower ones.
Bowlers:
CSK has a good bowling attack with a heavy spin-attack and a decent pace-attack. Deepak Chahar will be their front-line pacer. He will bowl with the new ball and swings it in and out of the batsman.
Their second pacer will be among Sam Curran, Lungi Ngidi, and Josh Hazlewood. They will go for Sam Curran if they need a left-arm pacer and also Curran is a good batsman who will be handy lower down the order. It should be wise to choose one of the three.
Imran Tahir will be my second spinner. He has played a vital role in CSK’s success for the past two years. This leggie is a goto bowler MS at crunch situations. My other bowler will depend on the conditions, if they play in seaming conditions, I would go for Shardul Thakur or if it is a spin-track, I would choose between Chawla or Harbhajan.
Strengths and weaknesses:
CSK’s strength has always been its captain MS Dhoni. His mastermind tricks will be handy for them at any part of the play. Another strength for them is their spin attack. Last season many teams struggled to play against their spinners. While this year’s IPL is going to be played in UAE, obviously spinners will come into play.
Their weakness will be their death-bowling and their top-order batsman. Both failed to improve in the last season of IPL. Their death bowling is a serious concern. They have added some pacers to their attack this season, so hoping for good bowling towards their end.
My playing 11 for CSK:
Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, K Jadhav, MS Dhoni(c)(wk), D Bravo, R Jadeja, Sam Curran/Ngidi/Hazlewood, D Chahar, S Thakur/Chawla/ Harbhajan, I Tahir
Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI Punjab will be lead by their young captain, hoping for a good season this year. This team has never come with the same team, each year they will bring changes in their team. They haven’t had a huge success and never won the IPL title, but played some good cricket here and there. Their one notable season is in 2014, where they reached the finals and lost to KKR. In that season, Glenn Maxwell played a huge role for KXIP’s success and he’s part of this team too.
Top Order:
KXIP has one of the best opening pair in this tournament. Kl Rahul and Chris Gayle- what a pair it is! Gayle towards the twilight of his career, expected to play some good innings for his fans. Kl Rahul with his recent form, will be a blitzkrieg kind of attack if Gayle too comes into attacking zone.
KL Rahul
My no.3 for them will be Mayank Agarwal. Agarwal is a good player of both spin and pace. He can be crucial for Punjab’s success by anchoring the innings, while the others can play their aggressive role.
Middle and Lower-middle order:
Glenn Maxwell will be their no. 4. This aggressive batsman was away from cricket to improve his mental stability is expected to comeback in this IPL. He has to play responsibly in the middle-order or else the teams middle order will be brittle. So Maxwell will be crucial for their middle-order’s success.
Glenn Maxwell
Their 5, 6, and 7 will be Mandeep Singh, Deepak Hooda, and Krishnappa Gowtham. These three will be helpful in UAE conditions as they can play spin and bowl too(Hooda and Gowtham).
Nicholas Pooran also can play in their middle-order, if their Indian Bowlers are strong enough to play in the 11 so that they can go for a batsman in the overseas slot but they obviously need two bowlers from the overseas slot to strengthen their attack.
Bowlers:
M Shami will lead their pace attack. Shami has come a long way in his career and he will be vital for their bowling attack. Sheldon Cottrell will be their second pacer. They have many overseas pacers to choose from. Their third pacer will be a young-Indian pacer for sure. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman will lead their spin-attack. This young Afghan is known for his unpredictability.
Sheldon Cottrell
Strengths and weaknesses:
Their strengths is their aggressive batting and their overseas slot is strong enough to play in the 11. Their weakness is their captain is inexperienced and young. He is expected to lead the team from the front by his batting. Other than the overseas players, the Indian players are young and inexperienced.
My playing 11 for KXIP:
Kl Rahul(c)(wk), C Gayle, M Agarwal, G Maxwell, Mandeep Singh/ N Pooran, D Hooda, K Gowtham, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman/J Suchith, M Shami, S Cottrell, Ishan Porel/ Arshdeep Singh.
They can also try Jimmy Neesham, if they need an allrounder.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at its meeting of the Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL) decided to hold the 13th edition of the cash-rich tournament from September 19 to November 10.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at its meeting of the Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL) decided to hold the 13th edition of the cash-rich tournament from September 19 to November 10.
The tournament will see matches starting at 7:30 PM IST and will also witness 10 doubles. In the case of a doubleheader, the first match will start at 3:30 p.m. IST
It was decided to take the IPL to another week and that the final will be played on November 10 stated a BCCI official, speaking to IANS.
In order to ensure there is enough space between games considering the strict protocol, 10 doubles have been planned, added the BCCI Official.
IPL Finals on Nov 10th
“We have decided to go up until November 10, so the final will be held on a business day for the first time. Also, to ensure there are enough gaps between games taking into account the travel environment and biosecurity and taking all of these things into account, we will have 10 double heads this season, ”the official revealed.
The official said it will be 7:30 PM IST for the evening games when asked about the start time. “We have decided to bring it up 30 minutes after normal IPL hours, which are 8 p.m. for night games and we will start at 7:30 instead.”
If the issue of fans entering the stadium was discussed at the meeting, the official said these things can be addressed in consultation with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).
The BCCI is also optimistic about getting full clearance from the government in the coming week to move the tournament to the UAE.
“BCCI has received approval from the Sports Ministry and we hope to have a positive response from the other departments as well very soon,” a BCCI official told IANS on Saturday.
With the Indian Premier League Governing Council (GC) slated to meet on Sunday, the strength of each IPL squad will be in the discussion as standard operating procedures (SOP) are formalized for this year’s tournament in the UAE.
An IPL franchise generally consists of a squad of 25-28 players. In addition to players and executives, there are at least 10-15 members on support staff. TOI understands that each IPL franchise will have to organize its own biological bubble upon arrival in the UAE approximately one month before the tournament. In that case, limiting the squad could be a containment bone.
The last time IPL was played in the United Arab Emirates in 2014, the teams led a trimmed squad. Generally, franchises highlight many players in the middle of the season if they are not close to the national team in-game XI.
TOI has learned that there have been suggestions that franchises could be asked to limit the number of players to 20. The idea is to keep the locker room as crowded as possible. However, franchises believe that there should be no compromise in the number of players. “Franchises would prefer to prune their non-playing staff If there are instructions on team strength. Some franchises will leave this decision to the coach and team management. Ideally, if there is a limit, then it should be in the entourage in their set, “a senior franchise official told TOI.
“There could be a limit to the number of people a franchise brought ashore on game days. Even some of the support staff might be asked to stay at the hotel,” I added.
defending champs
Net bowlers, practicing resources is a big challenge
The other point of conflict for franchises is the provision of adequate practice facilities. The availability of resources for practice sessions in this IPL will not be as easy as it was last time with such strict health protocols. “That is why franchises need more players. For almost two and a half months the teams will be in the UAE. Getting net players for so many teams will be difficult,” said the official.
The ICC Academy in Dubai has almost 40 pitches and two full terrains. Even the ground in Abu Dhabi has huge practice facilities. “There has to be a POE to hire bowlers and net resources, Franchises can hire the facilities, but they also need to have resources” added the official.
CSK plans to leave before others
Chennai Super Kings is working to land in Dubai on August 10 to practice for this season IPL. TOI also learned that the Knights of the Kolkata Knights are observing on August 19 and 20, while all other teams should leave before August 25. “CSK has been proactive. Be ready to leave on August 10. But the delay in the BCCI POE could delay that, “said a source.
BCCI is in talks with Emirates Airlines to coordinate with franchises since the Indian government has only allowed repatriation flights now. But some franchises are already looking to organize charter flights, “the source added.
