The pair of Paris Saint Germain’s Neymar, Levin Kurzawa, and Leandro Paredes, as well as Marseille duo Dario Benetto and Jordan Amavi, were given their marching orders after their players punched and kicked each other.
The Olympic Marseille pulsed in the 31st minute at the Parc des Princes on Sunday, though in the ill-tempered match, ahead of Florian Théuvin in the 31st minute, a 1–0 win over Lish 1 champion Paris Saint Germain. With the foul throughout, a full-scale brawl broke out on the pitch after sending five players along with boiled referee Jerome Brisard in the final minutes of the truce.
But it did not bother Marseille manager Andre Villa-Bose as the 1993 European Cup winners celebrated their first league win against PSG since November 2011.
Villa-Bose, after condemning last season’s Champions League runners-up defeat 1–0 after their second consecutive defeat, told reporters “a tough and important win with a historic as well as a historic win.”
“We struggled to withstand the initial pressure of PSG because they are very good at it, but we found a way to get a convincing win. It was not very beautiful and we were suffering. “
Thauvin scored against a run of play, steering home side pass through Marco Veratti and Neymar into the Dimitri Payet free-kick near the pass post, who also missed a pair in the second half.
Keeper Steve Mandanda scored a great goal before the goal from both sides and a gear went up after the break.
Angel Di Maria’s effort for PSG was dismissed in the 62nd minute and Benetto’s scorer was also fired two minutes later, as Thauvin, who grabbed the opening shot, was a slight back from the previous PSG defender.
Recalling several first-team regulars who contracted the COVID-19 virus, PSG worked hard in the closing stages but remained with Marseille’s rude defense firm.
Former PSG sports director Leonardo, who was a World Cup winner with Brazil, criticized the referee’s actions.
“A total of 14 cards were branded and five of them were red, meaning the match went out of control,” Leonardo told the Telefoot television channel.
Brisard lost his head. He competed in the final of the League Cup but he does not have experience for such consistency.
