KL Rahul
KL Rahul, one of the most reliable and consistent hitters on the Indian national team and IPL team Kings XI Punjab as well, becomes the captain to record the highest score in an innings. The right-handed hitter entered the team as a test specialist but soon established himself as an all-format player. He may not be part of the test team now, but he is the first-choice wicketkeeper-hitter in limited-overs cricket.

Blooming to become THE BEST
Rahul, who was India’s best hitter on the New Zealand tour, also leads Kings XI Punjab in the 2020 IPL. He is also in contention to take over as captain of India’s T20 after Virat Kohli retires; Here are some of the records he currently holds :
Only Indian to score a century in his ODI debut
18 months after his debut in the test team, KL Rahul had the opportunity to make his ODI debut in the absence of regulars Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. By opening the innings with fellow Karnataka player and KXIP teammate(now), Karun Nair, KL wrote history by becoming the first Indian batsman to score a century in his ODI debut.

Interestingly, KL Rahul hit a six to bring in his century, while India only needed one run to win in 46 balls. The right-handed prodigy went for the big shot and cleared the fence to create history, leading India to a victory in the series opener during the 2016 Zimbabwe tour.

Fastest Half Century in IPL
KL Rahul was expected to fetch a large amount in the 2018 IPL auction, but the number of bids he received left fans stunned – he joined Kings XI Punjab for Rs 11 Crore.

Returning to IPL after missing IPL 2017 due to a shoulder injury, the pressure was on Rahul to get the job done and he did not disappoint as he broke the record for the fastest half-century in IPL history in his first outing for KXIP. The opener reached the 50-run mark in just 14 deliveries, reaching the milestone in the third over. But soon after lost his wicket.
Centurion in all formats for INDIA
In less than a year after Rohit Sharma became the second centurion of all Indian formats, Rahul did the same and joined the elite roster in 2016. The Indian opener scored his first Test 100 against Australia in 2015. A year later, he scored his first ODI hundred on debut against Zimbabwe followed with a T20I century against the West Indies in August 2016. Rahul, so far, has scored five tests 100s, four ODI 100s, and two T20I hundreds.

Two records achieved today!
KL Rahul became the highest scoring Captain in IPL and also the highest score ever (in IPL) by an Indian. This feat comes after back-to-back drop catches from Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was on fine hitting form and never looked tired throughout his innings. He faced 69 deliveries and scored 132 N.O.

Usually, when being promoted as the captain of a side, players feel pressure and underperform in most situations. But it is different here, considering the firepower KL has. He had established himself as a wicket-keeping batsman and is trusted by Virat Kohli in the white-ball format for all good reasons. He is the one for us in the future!!
