Not to be surprised, but Apple has already begun assembling iPhones in India. Apple first started in India by assembling iPhone 11, iPhone XR at the Foxconn plant in Chennai, and might also start with mid-range Flagship iPhone SE 2020 by late 2020.
According to the sources, Apple has plans to manufacture the next iPhone 12 series in India. This also inclines with India’s “Made in India” notion and is estimated to hire around 10,000 employees. The iPhone 12 release date hasn’t been announced yet and is expected to be ready for sale around the mid of 2021.
iPhone 12 – Bangalore
The Production is said to begin at Narasapura in Bangalore by Wistron, Apple’s Taiwan Contract Manufacturer. Around 2000 people have already been recruited and 70 % of the employees should be of the State’s native as per Karnataka’s Industrial Policy which says 7000 employees will be local.
The above has also been confirmed by Karnataka’s ex-minister by his tweet.
Cheaper than its Predecessor
Now considering the Price, iPhone 12 is expected to be less expensive than it’s predecessor since it is “Made in India” and will most probably avoid the duties. Apple hasn’t confirmed the price drop, but it is expected that the price drop will be profitable to the Tech Giant since the market in India for iPhone is huge considering the Indo-Chinese Tension.
According to the leaks, there are four new variants of iPhone 12, 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch powered by A14 Bionic processor with 5G support. Apple has announced that there will be a delay in the iPhone 12 launch and is expected to be unveiled by October 2020.
