Paytm, India’s financial services app has been removed from the Play Store by Google itself as it violates its gambling policies. Paytm who is the competitor of Google Pay has 50 million monthly current users in India.
The listing on the Play store states an error showing that the requested URL is not found in the server. Android users now are not able to download from the Play Store, however, the Paytm app which is preinstalled by the users can be able to use the app without interruption.
However Paytm posted a tweet stating that they will be back soon and assured not to worry for their money and is completely safe.
Google states Paytm App violates its policies
They have said it has violated the policies and Play Store never allows an online casino or a gambling or an online betting app over a sports game. Paytm has recently promoted the fantasy sport within its app and called Paytm First Games which is a standalone app and it repeatedly violated the policies. This made them make a move against Paytm.
Now both Paytm and Paytm First Games are removed from the play store. This move from Google is an attempt to warn other developers who promote online betting and gambling games. With IPL 2020 to kick off tomorrow, its a huge statement from them.
Previously many such apps like Dream11 are previously removed by Google which also violated the policies of the Play Store.
