If you are keeping up with the hashtag #BoycottChinese, you’ll very well know that Samsung is one of the very few non-Chinese brands as it sources to South Korea. Samsung follows the tradition of having ‘ Galaxy Unpacked ’ event twice a year; One at the first half of the year for launching its sleek and smooth ‘S’ series smartphone and the other at the second half for launching its powerful ‘Note’ series phablet.

Galaxy Unpacked 2020

This year the Galaxy unpacked falls on Aug 5 and you’ll be able to watch the live stream from 1930hrs (7.30 PM) IST and don’t forget to scroll down to know more about what’s launching. Click HERE to watch the #SamsungEvent. Some of the gadgets releasing are:

  1. Galaxy Note 20
  2. Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
  3. Galaxy Buds Live
  4. Galaxy Fold 2
  5. Galaxy Watch 3
  6. Galaxy S20 Lite (expected)

Galaxy Note 20

We might have waited for the name to go official as some of us would have guessed Samsung will follow the naming pattern of its counterpart. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s Apple. Apple dumped the number 9 and release its iPhone series X instead and after that, they launched 11 series iPhones. To my surprise, Samsung hasn’t named it Galaxy Note 11 but went well ahead and named them Galaxy Note 20. So let’s talk about the spec part of the mobile (but take it with a pinch of salt).

It is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor (but in the Indian market this might be debuted with Samsung Exynos 990 which is inferior) which is the latest and costliest of all by the company and comes with a 6.53” Super AMOLED display weighing just 198g with IP68 dust/water-resistant. Don’t forget the S pen you get exclusively with the Note series. It is expected to have a triple camera setup (64+12+12) at the back and on the front, you get a punch-hole selfie camera. It comes with OneUI 2.1 backed by Android 10 with up to 256GB internal storage and a 4300mAh battery.

Unlike the Cupertino giant’s decision to dump the charger, this will feature a charger on-the-box. This comes in 4 different color options namely Mystic Bronze (<3), Mystic Gray, Mystic Green and Mystic White (might be a special edition)

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

This is of course the big brother of the latter comes with the 108MP camera instead of the latter’s 64MP. It is supposed to sport a larger display of 6.9” (compared to 6.53” on the Note 20), a larger battery capacity of 4500mAh (compared to 4300mAh on the Note 20), and 8K support. This is also expected to be released with Exynos 990 (by Samsung) in the Indian market.

Galaxy Buds Live

This Galaxy Unpacked will reveal the most expected upgrade to the Galaxy Buds lineup now comes with a bean-like shape that has touch controls on the top retaining all the functions of its predecessor and a speaker at the bottom.

As you can see, these do have better fit, Active noise cancellation, Bixby, and Find My Earbuds support. It supports Gaming mode with ultra-low latency and I’m really looking forward to how well these will perform.

Galaxy Unpacked – Bonus

Here’s the bonus you all waited for, With the ‘Galaxy Unpacked 2020’ event we’ll also get to see the launch of Galaxy Flip 2 (5G), Galaxy Watch 3 (in 4 different versions), and the S10 Lite successor which is reportedly named Galaxy S20 Fan Edition aka Galaxy S20 Lite in 4 different colors with 120Hz display and a 4500mAh battery. We’ll have to wait for the pricing and I’m pretty sure these will cost a little more penny than expected due to the GST hike in India.
