Xbox Series S? If you are not aware of what an Xbox is, Xbox is a video gaming brand created and owned by Microsoft. It represents a series of video game consoles developed by Microsoft, with three consoles released in the sixth, seventh, and eighth generations, respectively.
Xbox Series S
The latest version of the popular Xbox series S dates is out. Let’s find out what we know about it and what makes it so special. It is reported to be a trimmed back replacement for the Xbox One S and/or Xbox One X (recently discontinued), with less power than the Series X but with the ability to play games in 4K HDR(almost).
We still are not sure whether this is simply a digital version of the Xbox Series X or indeed the cut-down Xbox Lockhart. Here’s what we have predicted about the Xbox Series S.
Cheaper than the Xbox series X
It is believed to be cheaper than the Xbox series X. Even though we don’t know the price of the Xbox series S exactly, it is expected to be around $400. Compared to its features, which we’ll talk about later, the price seems fair even though older versions are much cheaper (around $299) with lots of features available.
A techie in the name of Eastman claimed to have heard on the Beyond3D forums the all-digital Xbox will be half the price of the Xbox Series X.
“Last I heard [it’ll] be half the price of the XSX [Xbox Series X] and last I heard MS [Microsoft] were prepared for a $400. I am not sure what the final price will be,” said Eastman referring to claimed tips from a Microsoft insider. “I think if Sony is $500/$600 MS may try to go in at $200/$400/$500 but we will see.”
Still impressive processing
The main feature that we are aware of now is it to have 4 teraflops of GPU processing power. That is lower than the Series X (which has 12 TFLOPS) and even lower than the Xbox One X (with its 6 TFLOPS). But, considering that the PS4 Pro has just over 4 TFLOPS of GPU power, we can see that it is still impressive.
The next-generation console Xbox Series S is said to also sport ray-tracing abilities and SSD storage for faster loading and instant-on game resumption.
Its maximum resolution for gaming is claimed to be 1440p(rather than full,), native 4K, and will run games in up to 60fps. There is also a rumor that the Xbox Series S console will come without a physical media drive.
Release Date
It is said to be available with the Xbox series X in the holiday season 2020. It is important to remember that it is still not the confirmed date.
